New Guy, New Place

No, I haven’t left my husband! We’re still disgustingly devoted to each other. I’m talking about Simon Royle’s indie book site. Simon has written a very scary book called TAG, a techno-thriller, in which most of the human race is slated to be culled. Personally, I’m against it, the reason being that I’m not in charge of it. I could eliminate more than that in bad boyfriends and ex-sons-in-law. And shuttle drivers. I hope Simon will visit here when his book is released. Imma ask him.

Meanwhile, over in the Indiana Writers Connection Yahoo Group, Diana Grayson is setting up a Get-Away, which will be a virtual retreat for writers and readers to get together. I’m in charge of the kitchen (BWA-ha-ha-ha-HAAAAA!). Joe and the cats will be there, and maybe a couple of ghosts. And a library for readers to browse. It’ll be SO COOL when it gets set up! I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Here’s a recipe for Food Wednesday:

FRUIT THING (sort of a dump cake only not)

Butter a cake pan or casserole dish. Dump a can of fruit pie filling into it. If you like nuts, add some nuts. You could put some fresh berries in or some extra spices or whatever. Cover the top with a thin layer of cake mix. You could do peach filling with yellow cake mix or cherry filling with chocolate cake mix or apple filling with caramel cake mix. Dot the top with butter or margarine. Bake at 350F for about 45 minutes, or until the top starts to brown. You can serve it with ice cream, if you like.

I’m playing hooky from NaNo to write this post. I’m behind on my word count, but I haven’t really hit my stride. (excuses, excuses)

WRITING PROMPT: Write a character who cooks by recipe who is forced to cook with someone who cooks seat-of-the-pants. Oh, and if you haven’t read the Amelia Bedelia children’s books and you like to cook or write about people who like to cook, read them.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Thanks for the invite Marian, guess I’ll be seeing you in December.

BTW, I usually don’t read the books that I put up. I check them for format and obvious errors, the content otherwise is not mine to judge. I am stuck on finding out what happens to the grouchy little walnut priestess though πŸ™‚

Thanks, Simon–Look forward to hosting you! I’m glad you care about what happens to Aunt Libby. If you read the book, though, you’ll see that this can be a dangerous sentiment. πŸ˜‰
