Forget the Change

Everybody is posting about their New Year Resolutions and Goals for 2011 and stuff, so take a break from all the virtuous hopes and pledges and read my intention, which I have expressed in the form of a poem, as I am all about culture:

Forget the Change
by Marian Allen

With twenty-eleven arriving
a second past midnight today,
I promise to not do more striving
but make what I do do to pay.
I haven’t got much in submission
although I have stories galore.
To boost my financial condition
I plan to submit and sell more.

So come on in, 2-0-1-1, be prosperous and sunny.
Forget the change, just bring to me some long green folding money.

WRITING PROMPT: Someone goes to a New Year’s Eve party and meets the personification of the Old Year. What does he/she say to the old dude?

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

First of all, love the snowflakes!

Also, great poem. I love that it’s not what we do but making what we do count. Superb!

Thanks, Clarissa! It’s sooooo much easier to write than it is to find markets and submit and follow up. I’m hoping to get my ducks in a row this year — and then SELL THOSE DUCKS! lol!

I love the poem, too. Sort of a little incantation (I’m into that sort of thing).

New Year OUGHT to ask the Old Year if he/she has any tips. Naturally, NY won’t think to do that. ๐Ÿ™‚
