Half a Recipe

Wednesday is usually food day around here (at the blog, I mean; EVERY day is food day with me) but I have another guest tomorrow: the delightful N. R. Williams. So, since Tuesday is when I post at Fatal Foodies, I decided to kill two posts with one recipe. I’ll post the ingredients here and the instructions at Fatal Foodies.

SLIGHTLY MULTI-GRAIN BREAD

  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons salt
  • 1 1/2 (3 envelopes) quick-rise yeast
  • 3 cups lukewarm water
  • 4 cups bread (or regular) flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Now, you can make this more multi-grain by replacing some of the whole wheat flour with rye flour or flour of some other grain. You CAN replace some or all of the regular white flour with another grain, but the lower the proportion of white/bread flour, the longer the dough will need to rise and the heavier the bread will be.

Directions are posted at Fatal Foodies.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
