Posts and Prompts

In that order. Every day, I post whatever I’m going to post, then I make up a prompt based on the post. Some people have been kind enough to tell me they like it; they say it inspires them to realize that everything contains the germ of a story.

My cat is by my shoulder, purring loudly. Current cat theory is that cats purr 1) when happy 2) when secure 3) when having needs/desires fulfilled 4) when uncertain, in order to reassure themselves 5) in order to reassure the animal/person they’re with.

WRITING PROMPT: A human being suddenly gains the ability–indeed, the compulsion–to purr under any or all of the above circumstances.

p.s. It’s Tuesday, so I’m posting at Fatal Foodies on the subject of Man Bites Fish! It’s about piranha.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I like the prompts, too. πŸ™‚ Hmm…a human begins purring. I’ll have to give that one further thought in order to write about it. Thanks for sharing. Happy Tuesday! πŸ™‚

Hi. A good purr is one of the happiest gifts in the world.

The little boy charged his stuffed animals, roaring as he played predator. After awhile, he sat back surrounded by a mixture of dinosaurs, tigers, sharks and whales, purring with satisfaction.

Except for the purring, this is a daily occurrence at my house.

LOL! I can imagine it, Nancy! And isn’t it lovely, the times you see a child so happy and content you’d swear he could purr?

I like your prompts at the end of each post, but I’m copying them down to use after the A-Z Challenge is over. πŸ™‚

One of my cats is curled up on the foot of my recliner with his head resting on my leg and the others are spread out through the house.

We just lost our oldest resident cat (he was 19). Our other is 11. My husband says, “When Katya goes–no more cats!” I guess I’ll have to get an artificial one, because a house without a cat just isn’t home!
