#Caturday Intruder Alert

intruderalertI was sitting on the couch next to Mom, helping her write a story, and I looked up and saw this! A cat! A cat that is not ME!

Mom said, “It’s okay. It’s just your Uncle Ozzie from my mom’s house.” She also thought it would comfort me to tell me he was outside and to promise that she wouldn’t let him come in, but he was there! On my porch! On my porch! Being not ME!

Just look at his evil laser-eyed wickedness!

I wasn’t just sitting there gazing, I can tell you. I used all my best cat curses. I hissed and growled and yowled and caterwauled at the top of my lungs.

Mom called me back over to the couch, and I went, because she was probably scared of him and she needed me to protect her. I kept looking back over, though, and he was still there, so I yelled at him some more, and he finally went away.

That night, I dreamed he was back, and I yelled so loud I woke everybody up! I wonder if he was dreaming that he was here. If so, I wonder if I woke him up!

I haven’t seen him back here since that day, so maybe he learned his lesson. Ha!

KATYAcThank you to Mom’s friend (and my friend) Jane Peyton (author of WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE) for making my beautiful gravatar. I think it looks just like me, only white instead of gray. But that’s all right. It would be hard to get just exactly the right shade of gray as my real fur. So thank you, Jane!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR CATS: A cat who is not you comes onto your porch. What do you do?

I do have a watch-cat, but he isn’t as vigilant as you are, Katya!

My cat, Sweedie, was like that. He would go asinine snarling and howling and scratching at the window. He went out for a walk around the house last August, and vanished. He used to take these constitutionals, rain or shine, winter or summer. One winter he went out and all you could see peeking up from the snow, was his tail. One summer he went out in a monsoon, and came back soaked. Dad had to dry him off, but we had fun. I still miss him.

Oh, Pete, I’m so sorry about Sweedie’s disappearance! I’ve had that happen with cats and dogs; I never stop looking for them, no matter how long it’s been. 🙁

That’s your story and I’m sticking to it! 😀

As for the prompt…This has happened twice in my life, and I left all the doing to Daddy Kiril. 😀

1st was over a decade ago = MAXIMUS: A Feral Feline I Once Knew (Bring lots of tissue as what eventually happened to Max was quite the topic in its day.)

2nd involved the arrival of Miss Elvira in our lives:

Intruder Alert! Daddy’s Found a Kitten! Or Vis a Versa, I don’t know!

    @Marian Allen

Well, it has been almost a year. But I still have hopes. He was a person to me. A member of the family, and not replaceable. Oh, I may get another familiar, but I still need time. A wise druggist, the other day (who must be very perceptive) said to me: “You will know when the time comes, do not hurry.”

In the meantime, I have Noella’s cat, Buddy, to share with her. And buddy knows something happened to me and Sweedie. I tried to explain it to him, and he listened. I am not sure how much he understood. But he has been very friendly, lately.

Buddy is one of those special, compassionate cats. Our #4 daughter’s late cat, Al, was like that. He could have had a career as a therapy cat, seriously. The more you needed comfort, the more comforting he was. Miss Katya is a fine cat, but she isn’t therapeutic, unless you need to exercise your anger management skills.

Cats have their ways. Those beautiful creatures.
One of my cats is grey, and extra toes. He is a darlig.
    Best whishes.

Over here, we call cats with extra toes Hemingway Cats, because American writer Ernest Hemingway loved them and had a bunch. 🙂
