Seeing Red #TheFabulous @RedTashBooks

In place of my usual eclectic Friday Recommends, I’m helping my pal Red Tash (aka The Fabulous) launch her NEW Troll-and-Roller-Derby book, TROLL OR PARK, book 2 of what she promises will be a “trollogy”.

Book 1, TROLL OR DERBY, has been out a spell. It’s .99 for Kindle, although I have it for Kindle AND in print, because I got such a kick out of it and because I adore the cover.trollorderby500Book 2, TROLL OR PARK, is also currently .99 for Kindle, so YAY! I’ll probably also get this one in paper, once it’s out in that format. I’ll buy it directly from Red, so I can see her precious, wicked smile. 🙂

Seeing RedWhen sixteen year old Deb heads to a roller derby tournament in Vegas, she hardly expects to skate against so many dangerous fairies — much less for The Realm to experience a coup in her absence.

What follows is an odyssey among fairy night life, beastly derby girls, blown out casinos and a mermaid with a hankering for a Philly Cheese Steak. Separated from her best friend Harlow, can Deb keep her head, or will she lose herself to the Dark Queen Sardonica?

Join fairies, trolls, gypsies, wizards, mermaids, devils, elves, and more in this over-the-top, action-packed adventure through teen angst, sugar addiction, and roller derby.

If you’re on Facebook, join the party to celebrate the release. I’ll be hosting from 9pm – 10pm Eastern Time, but the party will go on most of the day.

If you aren’t on Facebook, check out Red’s Tumbler blog. It rocks! Oh, and ask her about the flying birdbath, ‘kay? 😉

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about roller skating.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I used to watch roller derby on TV! B&W TV! (That’s not a new internet meme: it’s black and white television!)

I worshipped Bobby Mateer. She was the greatest! With her pony tail flying, she’d body slam those other Roller Ladies and just knock’em over the rails! I don’t know why my siblings were not particularly enthusiastic about playing Roller Derby with me ??? Why?

Red, I, too, adore those covers! And, wowo, I mean, like: Sardonica as the bad queen’s name? Body Slam!!!

One of my father’s sisters borrowed their cousin Jean’s roller skates, joined the Derby, and never looked back. Never returned the skates, either, which may be why she never looked back.
