The Sadness of the Scarf #disappointment

Alas! I finished my magic scarf, and found it is not magic after all!

Sad Scarf

sad scarfI got my camera phone, and I turned on the video, and Mom took one end of the scarf and I took the other and we pulled! And nothing happened. And we tugged! And nothing happened.

So I took it to the friend who gave me the pattern and said, “What am I doing wrong?” And she said, “Nothing. You do this.” And she took a row and worked it apart. Then the she took another row and worked it apart. I said, “That is Not Like Magic at all! That is Like Work!” And she said, “Why do you think I give it to who I’m giving it to and let them do it?”

So my magic scarf is a sad scarf. Actually, it’s an ex-scarf, because I took it back to Mom, who improved each shining hour by unraveling it and rolling it back into a ball so I can try something else with it. Waste not, want not.

Speaking of which, I’m posting at Fatal Foodies today about a leftover sweet potato, and what became of it.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character is sadly disappointed. It needn’t be by a scarf.

    Sad, indeed!
But I truly love the color of that yarn.
Much happy luck on the next construction.

I like the sweet potato dish. I’ve been using them in my stews (MEATY STEWS) instead of white potatoes, and YUM! They contribute enthusiastically to the gravy, and, well, it’s delish!

    Hi! too Mom G.

      It is a pretty blue.

I like sweet potatoes in a fall/winter stew with acorn or butternut squash and Mediterranean spices like cinnamon and cardamom. Or, actually, pretty much any way. Have you had sweet potato fries dipped in honey cinnamon butter? TO DIE FOR!!

      Mom says Hi! back. 🙂
