What do you want to know about me? Marian daughter of Genarose has already told you in the title that I’m a trickster. I think that’s a little unfair. Not necessarily untrue, just unfair. After all, I don’t always trick everybody, but calling me a trickster poisons the well of trust, doesn’t it?

And “trick” isn’t invariably the same as “steal”, is it? I might dissemble for any number of reasons, not only to line my pockets.

At the moment, for instance, I’m evading my betrothed. Not that I don’t want to marry her — I absolutely intend to. If she had let me go without being willing to pursue me to the ends of the earth (as we know it) my heart would break, and that’s a stark truth. It’s just that … I don’t know why … I have to evade her.

I suspect it’s the fault of Leslie R. Lee, who wants her to have her own book. Perhaps I’d better pay that gentleman a visit and whack him about the head and shoulder a bit with my bird-tail pipes. There are those who would say that’s better than hearing me play them.
