Devoted Devona #Caturday

the queenAmidala speaking.

This is our day to blog, but MaMA read me a little of her fantasy, SAGE, and it has a tortoiseshell cat in it! So I’m going to let Devona, the lady of the manor, talk, if she promises to talk about the cat. MaMA’s characters are blogging this month because of the A-to-Z April Blogging Challenge.

~*~

Thank you, Amidala. That’s a beautiful name, and you’re a beautiful cat. Much more beautiful than Elsie’s cat, Trenel. Trenel was a rarity: a male tortoiseshell. He seemed to know he was unusual, for he was greedy, lazy, and absolutely sure of himself. I never knew him to show fear of anything or anyone, nor to refuse any food, nor to be unable to sleep any time or anywhere.

Still, our girl, Elsie, adored him, and he tolerated her, so we tolerated him, my husband Darcy and I. Darcy was less tolerant than I, on the whole, but Trenel never bit me and he did bite Darcy once. Knowing Trenel, I’m sure he felt he had a good reason for it, though Darcy claimed he didn’t.

devotedMaMA says she’ll post the excerpt about that tomorrow for Sample Sunday. Maybe I’ll coax her into reading it to us tonight.

Meanwhile, go visit Daisy The French Bulldog. Daisy is a dog (obviously) and not a cat, but one can’t hold that against anybody so sweet and cute!

Devona – and Trenel – appear in the SAGE trilogy, available from independent booksellers through Indiebound and at Amazon in print and for Kindle and free Kindle apps.

    Nice Amidala. Nice Trenel.

    Let the good-cat-ness spread. Amen.

My girl Tootsie was a biter.
As you know, Marian, she bit hell out of your handbag. (sorry)

The tactic here, you see, is that if you scratch, they can, you know, de-claw you. But if you bite? What can they do about that, huh? Wear armor-alls all the time? Heh.

Her other weapon (peeing) was fortunately rarely released. And did she do that just in a little hidey-corner so she could get away with it?
    Oh, no. Not Tootsie.
I was hosting the divorce party sleepover, (Mon and Vickie) and when I went into the bedroom, there was a nice, spreading, perfectly round puddle of pee dead center on the freshly washed coverlet, soaking down, as I watched, into the sheets, mattress cover, etc. You get the picture.
Tootsie didn’t even run. She walked right out and said, “We are two single girls sharing our apartment. I don’t approve of sleepovers! There! Now beat me. Go Ahead.”

So I gave her a perfunctory swipe with the flyswatter (she was too small to actually spank), and Tootsie strutted off the Winner!
Girl, I coulda been a contenduh, but I was beat by a tiny girl cat without a bite or a claw. Yikes.

Oh, dear goodness, golly gosh, that’s Tootsie all over! Anybody who could be nasty about your mom is a champion of nastiness. Of course, there are some people who, if they came to my house, I’d probably pee on the bed in disapproval, too.

    Hello there.
Coming from a former cat owner (I had 4 living with me at one time), the trouble with cats is that they’re so full of feline fickle, you never know what you’re going to get from one day to the next! Thanks for sharing.

LOL! You’re so right about feline fickleness! One day, they’re rubbing the skin off your ankles and, the next, they’re totally ignoring you. But that’s what makes them fascinating. ~grin~

I like the idea of letting your pets take over your blog. Sometimes when I’m working on mine and I get up to leave the room my labrador, Tara, takes over my seat so I tell her that she’s welcome to write for the blog if she wants to, hehe.

Oh, Tara absolutely needs to blog for you sometimes! There’s a lively pet blogging community, you know. They’re loads of fun!
