Ami and Sweetie Pie A-Muse Themselves #Caturday

the queenAmidala speaking.

My first item of news is rather melancholy, I’m afraid. The long-running Carnival of the Cats’ 600th edition is its last. In uninterrupted operation since 2004, the Carnival seems to have run its course. Elvira (Mistress of Felinity) and her protege Sneakers (The Texian Tuxedo) with help from their Daddy, Kiril Kundrazieff, have worked hard to keep the Carnival going, but they have many activities and responsibilities, and so the Carnival is being tucked away, perhaps to be revived another day. I don’t know if the Feline News Network — for which Munchkin and I are Roving Reporters — will still be in operation. We’ll let you know as details come in.

I got in trouble with MaMA, but I maintain it was her fault. She made that salad the other day using lunch meat, and put it on the kitchen table. Lunch meat! If I have a weakness, it’s for lunch meat. Of course, she didn’t know that, but still…. And she didn’t realize I can still jump, but I can…. Alas, she caught me just short of my prize. She shouted and grabbed me and dropped me onto the floor! But, because she’s a good MaMA after all, she gave me a piece. One. ~sigh~ She says it’s too full of sodium and nitrons or something for me to have much of it. Sad cat, me.

Now the good news: Sweetie Pie is out of the Cone of Shame! MaMA was looking forward to freeing her, but Granny couldn’t wait for MaMA to get home from Imaginarium, and took the cone off, herself. Sweetie Pie has celebrated by gorging herself on cat food that Granny forgot is supposed to be measured out carefully so Sweetie Pie can maintain her girlish figure and by amusing herself in her favorite bird-watching spot.

SPshelvedThis is a plant stand, but the plants have very properly been removed from the bottom shelf, because the cat likes to lie there and look out the window.

I’ve been practicing being MaMA’s Muse, but she won’t listen to a word I write. I know they’re good words, because I’ve read them in other people’s books!

Ami the MuseWe shall just keep working at it. A real Muse never gives up!

Oh, and I don’t know who this “Amidinajab” is, but I do wish Charles (Mr. MaMA) would stop calling me that. “Amidala” is not difficult to remember!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: Would you rather annoy — I mean INSPIRE — your human or would you rather lounge around and look out the window?

If you’d climbed up on the table to do it, I probably would have knocked you off, too. 😉

Thank you, friends, for the mention of the CoTC….don’t worry the Feline News Network will continue, though the Carnival will not.

Ami, cats accumulate many names over their careers. It’s a sign of your power.

Jane, Munchkin says to tell you he doesn’t even remember all the names he’s had in his nine lives! And Ami appreciated your comment very much. She’s holding her head high and looking down her nose at us poor humans. Oh, wait, she already did that.

@Marian Allen – Our cats consider it a victory as long as they can hang onto the meat while flying toward the floor. I’d probably go with that.

We had a sweet cat named Manolito, a rescue who had been de-clawed on all four feet. He was actually quite adept at play and even slayed a bird loose in the house.

Anyway, we’d had roast chicken (the kind you buy) and had moved away from the table, leaving the critter still in his dish, bereft of wings and drumsticks.

Mano leapt up on the table, and in a flash, he wrenched off the whole breast section of the bird and took off with it in his mouth!

You just don’t see table skills like that anymore!

Tiffany used to get on the table and smack the pantry door until it bounced open, drag out cornbread THAT WAS WRAPPED IN ALUMINUM FOIL, claw open the foil, and eat the cornbread. She was misnamed. Should have been Killer or something.
