My mother hates hominy. Charlie loves it. I used to hate it, but now I like it purty good. But I love it in soup!
Our friend Francisco first gave us soup with hominy in, and we’ve never looked back. Here’s the soup I made the other night:
I heated some garlic olive oil and toasted some cumin and chili powder. If Charlie could eat onions, I would have cooked onions in there, too. Cut up some tomatoes and celery and pulled some kale leaves off the stalks. Added some water to the spiced oil and boiled the celery and tomatoes until they were soft. Added a can of hominy, about half a can of black beans, and some vegetable bouillon.
DAN ANTION, some chorizo or kielbasa would be good in this, you carnivore! 😉
Om yom!

September 23, 2015 at 7:07amI would add those extras but I would probably remove the black beans and hominy. I’ll try not to make the face, but…

September 23, 2015 at 8:33amMy grandpa used to say, “Don’t knock it if you ain’t tried it.” Keep the hominy and black beans in and stir in some meat, and the kale will be delicious! If we were having enough beer, you wouldn’t even notice. 😉

September 23, 2015 at 8:37amI am grandpa compliant. I’ve tried all of those ingredients. Kale is not too bad, but I don’t like it as mch as my wife. Black beans are just not a fav and hominy would gradually settle to the bottom of the bowl. If we were having those beers, yeah, it might all get eaten.
