Ramblin’ Writer’s Darcy Wordsmithery Breakdown #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsHappy Friday!

Guess what I’ve been doing? Yes, poking around on the internet! I’ve been Ramblin’ With AM, and participating in Blog Delurking Week. I’m bad about visiting blogs but not commenting, so this week I’ve been trying to be more participatory. Thankyou, Alana, for the inspiration.

Then I went over to Emma’s blog to see what that Writer In A Wheelchair is getting up to. She’s been loom knitting! Hmmm…. I think, not for me. But I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes for her.

Some blog or other sent me to yadadarcyyada, which had me stumped until I zoned in on the operative word: DARCY. Yada-Darcy-yada, which anyone who ever had — or ever had a friend with — a Mr. Darcy obsession will instantly recognize. But yadadarcyyada is FAR from a Darcy blog. It’s funny, fresh, funny, wildly imaginative, and did I mention funny? Try this post: These Aren’t The Gifts You’re Looking For, for example.

Somehow, I stumbled onto Leigh’s Wordsmithery, and I’ll sure be going back there again. Despite the title, it’s another eclectic blog, which is my favorite kind.

And now, a post that is SO NSFW. Not because it’s naughty, but because you’ll be snorting Danish out your nose. Go to Distractify and read this post of a newbie’s live tweets while watching the original Star Wars trilogy. You’re welcome.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: What literary character did your main character have a crush on when young?

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I had a crush on Jinx the cat from the Freddie the Pig books. Callie sort of had a crush on Lord Byron.

Yes, she did, didn’t she? But, hard as it is to believe, he wasn’t a literary character in the sense of being fictional. That’s an arguable point, I suppose. heh

I’m looking forward to following your links and finding some new-to-me blogs. I stumbled across this Delurking Week idea and adore how it’s brought to light the need for everyone in the blogosphere to make the effort to leave comments. Likes are fine, but comments are where it’s at!
