Ami in de toal-hole #Caturday

the queenAmidala speaking.

If the post title means nothing to you, here’s the reference. MaMA is quite fond of that book, and she told me about that scene. It isn’t quite an appropriate reference, since no one would attempt to stuff me into a dirty cabinet, nor would I return there (except it WOULD gain me that bath I’ve been angling for …. Hmmm….).

The point of the title is: I got in trouble. Why? I got on the kitchen table. More to the point, I got caught on the kitchen table. More than once.

It was Charles who intuited why.

“It’s because of those damn things you give her,” he said, and he was quite right.

MaMA gives me Temptations cat treats, specifically, the chicken-flavored ones. I do love them so!

ICanHazWhen MaMA sits down to her own meal, I come and ask for a treat. I know they’re on the table, so of course I scout around for them when nobody’s in the kitchen, hoping I’ll find the packet open. After Charles had his brainstorm, MaMA moved the packet to the floor.

Now, when I ask for a treat, she has to get up and cross the room and bend over to open the packet and give me one.

MINEIt’s good for her. Builds character.

Oh, the things in life that build character…don’t get me started. And a Silas Marner reference? On a Saturday? Cats have no respect for me.

But, but, but, how can you not LOVE Silas Marner? How can you not love a Shirley Temple movie written before there were Shirley Temple movies — AND SHIRLEY TEMPLE NEVER MADE THE MOVIE? Wouldn’t it be a natural? Little golden-haired tyke being adorably “naughty”? I can see it now! Where’s the popcorn?

I never knew Silas Marner was so engaging. Perhaps I should re read it as an adult?

If, you know, I can yet claim that status.

I was waiting for Eppie to ask, “Well, how LONG will you put me in the toal-hole?”
    Just like you-know-who!

My cats toil to improve my character ALL the time. Ex: Goober.
    AND:
    Goober’s brother outside, Eddie.
Sometimes they each just unleash on the nearest cat and smack smack’em down.
    Full brothers; different litters.
Something to be said for genetics, eh?

Heh, I know JUST who you’re thinking of!

Oh, I love Silas Marner. Do try it again! And watch the tv version starring Ben Kingsley. Because: BEN KINGSLEY.

@Marian Allen – It’s not so much Silas Marner, as it is the wingnut I had for an English teacher the year we read it.

Oh, yeah, I hear that. I had good English teachers, I’m happy to say. Sometimes eccentric, but none enough to spoil a book for me! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cute!
My cats love those things, too. I keep them by the food stuffs, because my cats have already trained me!

Katie Cat speaking: Really, Amidala? You’re not supposed to get on the table? In my house, I get to do what I want, when I want. And I know the treats are kept in the pantry so I run in there whenever the door is opened and I order whoever’s there to get me one…or many.

Ami says Katie is lucky — that MaMA is mean. She says MaMA and Charles act like it’s THEIR house!

    P.S.
The photo of Ami illustrates EXACTLY what i adore about cat pix:
The little baby is looking up into her best friend’s eyes with their special expression. Most of the pix in my cat calendar are just the same: cat parents holding up the camera to their furry children and capturing a moment where the cat is saying, “Hey, are you lookin’ at ME??”

But sometimes she looks at me and gives me that slow blink and it just knocks me out. ๐Ÿ™‚
