Fairytale Adventures With Hugh Comstock in a Shade Garden #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsThe internet is like going down the mine in Minecraft: One passage leads to another and then to another and then to a choice of two or three others, and many times you find treasure.

So the first thing was a message in the Storybookers Yahoo Group I belong to, including a link to this post about some delightful Storybook Style cottages and tiny houses. The article is on Momtastic WebEcoist, which will get a long, lingering return visit from me, you bet!

That article led me to this one on Adventures of a Home Town Tourist (which would be a good title for some of my posts, come to think of it) on the Hugh Comstock-designed Storybook homes of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

That led me to this Carmel-by-the-Sea website, and this post with the floor plan of one of Hugh Comstock’s houses! I adore the site’s tag: “THE FENCE THAT MAKES GOOD NEIGHBORS….. NEEDS A GATE TO MAKE GOOD FRIENDS”

One of those sites – I think it was Momtastic – also led me to Carolyn’s Shade Garden, a beautiful site with lots of pictures and information on shade plants, most useful for our shady spots.

I’ll be in Madison, Indiana this weekend at the National Guard Armory at the 6th Annual That Book Place Authors Fair, but I’ll set up posts in advance. I’ll set one up for Sunday, anyway; Amidala will be here to do her Caturday post. Come up and see me, if you can! Oh! And it’s the first of the month, so here’s a new Hot Flash for you!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about a character who is lost in a maze, labyrinth, path or cave with many branches.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
