The farmer’s market is open now, and we’re in heaven. I’ve been eating a lot of salad. I would say “we,” but Charlie just eats lettuce, and I maintain it isn’t salad if it only has one thing in it. Here’s what I have:
I have lettuce, asparagus, snow peas, orange sweet peppers, mushrooms, sunflower seeds, and capers. I didn’t get it all at the farmers’ market, o’ course, but THAT’S NOT THE POINT.
A little blob of blue cheese dressing and I’m good to go.
So why am I still fat? Eh? Answer me that.
Ah, well.

June 15, 2016 at 10:37amOooo, strawberries! We haven’t had any local strawberries! Our folks have had radishes, green onions, garlic, several kinds of lettuce, kale, endive, snow peas, several kinds of summer squash, and eggs. Yum!!

June 15, 2016 at 11:08amUm um, FOOD!
LOVE salads. HATE cleaning off the components. Just how long SHOULD I be standing there at the sink holding lettuce under running water??? Huh? And kale? All those little curly leaves, where the curly parts have curly parts?
You even have to rinse off MEAT now! I’m not kidding.

June 15, 2016 at 2:38pmI know, right? ~sigh~ But at least it doesn’t take me long to cut stuff up anymore. Because for why? Because for some wonderful person bought me a set of good knives, that is because for why! š

July 3, 2017 at 11:59amI have had multiple “arguments” with my husband about how a well made salad can be a meal! Of course you won’t see the fun in salad if you’re only eating lettuce, but if you think outside the box salads can be a lot of fun. I especially love making summer salads with lots of colorful fruits and a nice light and refreshing dressing. A fruit-filled salad can definitely hit the spot during our hot Texas summers.

July 3, 2017 at 5:41pmMmm, yes, I love salad with fruit in! Charlie actually PREFERS just lettuce, but I’ve come to like complex and colorful ones, with a range of textures.
