they still did it #FoundPoem

Logic. Ya can’t beat it.

Here’s another call-in from our weekly paper.

they still did it

by Anonymous Caller

stilldiditThe person that
(commented) that
banning hand guns
the criminals
would get them
then he used
driving drunk,
well,
they banned that and
they still did it.
Like you said,
criminals would get
their hands on them
if they wanted.
That’s the answer to your question.
They’d get them
whether you banned them
or not.

Makes you feel kind of sad, doesn’t it? But you can’t argue with logic. Or with syntax and grammar so poor, you’re not entirely sure what was just said.

SPECIAL BONUS CALL-IN:

I’m calling about the Ryan’s old restaurant, and I would like to see a family restaurant go in there, like a Hooters…. [emphasis mine]

I’m posting at Fatal Foodies today with my recipe for dill pickles.

In old-timey times, they’d pickle ANYthing, and the results would be everywhere, from your local bar to the general store. Nice easy recipe there. Hope they’re good.

Guns. Not a fan. Though I can shoot pretty well. And I appreciate a nicely engineered tool anytime. Even though the NRA, via Congress, has refused funding for the CDC to collect statistics on guns and gun violence, it’s still pretty clear that more people are injured or killed with citizens’ guns than any sort of instances where a gun prevented an injury or killing. Or robbery or home invasion.

Don’t know if this story is true or not, but it feels true:
Polls show that the average gun owner will say, “Yes,” when asked if everybody has a right to own a gun. When asked if his/her neighbors should have guns, the answer is, “No way.”

I hope the pickles are good, too. I’m not a gun fan, either, though I know some folks who are. I might have been put off firearms by the two people I knew as a child who were killed by guns. Yeah, by guns, not by people. Accidental discharge.

I always love folks who worry about non-people (they call them unborn). But, once they are, they won’t educate them, help feed them, stop them from being killed or maimed…

Kinda like the folks who love love love soldiers, until the soldiers need health care, housing, education, or … well … ANYTHING after they stop being actively shot at.
