55 Furry Years of Guilty Brewing is a Real Job #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsHappy Friday!

I had a blast last week, participating in the Cherished Blog Fest. Some of the participants were folks I already follow and had already recommended, and some are new.

I maybe already recommended Shilpa Garg of A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose, but I’ve just looked at her 55 Fiction category and have to send you there! She writes stories of exactly 55 words each. Longer than my Hot Flashes, but shorter than most Flash Fiction. And good!

Kalpanaa cherishes her furry friends, both dogs and cats. If she had mice or ferrets or chinchillas or wombats, she would cherish them, too. If she had fish or snakes or lizards or dragons, she would probably do a Cherish post about scaly friends. Srsly, it’s a lovely post.

M.Pax just lost her last cherished furbucket, after 20 years of friendship and a year after losing her other. That’s hard. Actually, it’s hard, no matter how long or short a time we have them, yes? She wrote a beautiful tribute to both of the babies.

–This one is beside the point, but I wanted to be certain I didn’t forget it. If I already recommended it, I apologize for the repeat, but it’s worth rereading. Patricia Stoltey advises writers (and, for that matter, anybody) to recognize our time is finite and our possibilities for using time are limitless. She advises us to consciously choose how we use our time, even if we have to write down what our choices are and why we’re choosing this over that. She puts it much better than I do, so go read her article on choice and non-guilt.

Okay, back to cherishing. I know for a fact that I recommended Vidya Sury before, but I love her Cherish post. She cherishes a coffee filter! Not a paper one, some other kind of one. I can’t visualize how hers works, but it inspired me to get out our Aeropress and make some cold brew concentrate instead of just running the Mr. Coffee. It was most delicious!

I’m not entirely sure if Greg Fallis was part of the Cherished Blog Fest or if I came to him through some other path, but I’m in bloggy love. WARNING: if you’re one of my Conservative friends, you won’t like him. As always, I have to have separate parties for my Conservative friends and my Flaming Liberal Like Me friends. So y’all Conservatives, skip this paragraph. I’m still ROTFLOL over this post, i had no idea, mostly. Oh, his blog’s tagline is “it’s this or get a real job.”

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Give your character two groups of friends. Both groups like your character but not each other.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

BTW – Twice this week, the share-via-twitter option gave me the title and your Twitter handle. Today and one other day, nothing, nada, bupkus, just the link 🙁
