Sweetie Pie Turner here. My mom is MomGoth’s mom, too, but I call Marian, who is my sister, MomGoth because she helps take care of me.
We had such an exciting week!
Some of it was not very good excitement. A water main broke, so we had a boil water advisory. That meant MomGoth had to boil water to mix Mom’s electrolyte water and to put in Mom’s water delivery bag on her feeding pump. She keeps my water dish nice and full, so that was all right. If I had needed water, then she would have boiled it.
And our refrigerator stopped working! MomGoth didn’t know it, because Mom doesn’t eat food food, just canned formula. The motor was still running, but a friend opened it and found out it wasn’t cold. And it smelled BAD! MomGoth threw everything inside it away and cleaned it out with baking soda. She called Sears and they said they’d schedule a repair appointment in two weeks. MomGoth laughed and laughed, thanked them anyway, and hung up. Then she got the name of a local guy and he came right out and fixed it.
Before he came, MomGoth and Charlie pulled the refrigerator out and cleaned under it and behind it, and look who they found! I used to baptize him in my water dish every day! He’s been under the refrigerator, herding pigs by the smell of him. MomGoth washed him, once the water boil advisory was lifted.
The thing sticking up on his back is a Velcro(tm) tab. He and another one stick onto a bigger one. Now the family can be together again!
But the most exciting thing was three cousins who came to visit. Cousins of Mom and MomGoth, I mean, not of me. I don’t like company.
I’ll just go hide back there in the bedroom, ‘k?
They had a great time! I could hear them yakking and laughing all the way back where I was lurking.
They forgot to get Charlie to take a picture of them all together, so they took two pictures and MomGoth put them together in the GIMP.
They left, so I came back out.
MomGoth says I’m a Calico Recluse. I’m just shy and retiring. But the cousins sure sounded like they were having fun. Maybe next time they visit, I’ll come out and see them. I know they made Mom and MomGoth really happy.
And MomGoth finding my prodigal polar bear made me happy. So it was a good week, all in all.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: Do you like crowds of new (to you) people?

September 3, 2016 at 8:53amSometimes, I think I’d prefer crowds of animals to crowds of people. Good news on the polar bear – I’m sure Sweetie Pie is happy to have him back.

September 4, 2016 at 7:58amSweetie Pie seems to be out of the baptism business, but she was happy to see her old convert after his sojurn in the wilderness. 🙂 As for animals v people, it depends on the animals and it depends on how hungry they are.

September 3, 2016 at 7:00pmYou are so lucky Sweetie Pie! The only thing I’ve ever found under the fridge was an old mouse that one of the kids brought in…and released…I’m sad to say it did smell though. Fridges really should be designed better. 🙁

September 4, 2016 at 8:00amThere was a mouse under there, too. Fortunately, it was a stuffed felt one, not a formerly live one. Fridges need room underneath so the feet can be adjusted to make them level, and for air circulation. So I vote for them to sit higher off the ground, so anything that goes under can be easily retrieved.

September 4, 2016 at 9:05amAh, I didn’t know that. So you’re thinking broom head height?
Marian Allen
September 5, 2016 at 8:26amYeah. That would make it easier to get to the stuff in the bottom drawers of the fridge, too.

September 5, 2016 at 7:24amLooks like a bunch of happy people at Sweetie Pie’s last week!
BTW, it looks like baptismal visitations have made for a very clean little bear, considering how long he was under the fridge!

September 5, 2016 at 8:32amOh, when we got him out from under the fridge, I anointed his head with dish washing liquid and soaped him up pretty good. Then I rinsed him through and through, wrung him as dry as possible, and put him in durance vile (aka the dish rack) until he dried out. He’s ready for polite society again.
And we had SUCH a good visit with the cousins!

September 5, 2016 at 9:27pmSounds like a good time, plenty of smiles. I think my spirit animal is a Calico Recluse. I will put that in my Twitter someday.

September 6, 2016 at 7:55amI wish we had had longer to visit, but visiting another time just gives us something to look forward to. 🙂

September 7, 2016 at 12:10pmNow there’s a way to turn a water advisory into a plus!

September 7, 2016 at 3:33pmIt’s an ill wind that blows no one any good, right?
