I got this in a knife fight. Yeah, I’m lyin’. I got it when I visited a friend who has a large and friendly dog. The dog jumped up to greet me and accidentally raked me with her nails.
She’s a good dog, but still pretty puppified. My friend is slowly but surely training her, and the dog is getting much better at containing her enthusiasm, but one misplaced paw did some damage that looked much worse than it actually was.
Thing is, we were on our way to a book sales event, and I didn’t want to leak precious bodily fluids all over the stock or take a chance on freaking out the customers, so I covered it up. This is the second change of bandage, so it looks all nothing to see here. This doesn’t concern you. Nobody even asked me about it.
And I was all ready with the knife fight story, too.
I’m posting at Fatal Foodies today about the last (almost) plate of fresh food of the summer.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Why is your main character sporting that big bandage?

Okay, I CAN see Grigori in an eyepatch!
Please have your Mommie give you a nice healing mommie kiss!

September 20, 2016 at 1:14pmOO-oo-ooo. Grigori in an eyepatch — I am SO THERE. *sigh*
I’m too old for that mommie kiss stuff. If I asked her to kiss that mess, she’d be all, “EWW-ww-WWW!” lol

September 20, 2016 at 9:26amWhere’s the link to the foodie post today?
Also, ouch, I know it well. My dog gets super excited when certain people come to call. First she spazzes out and cries and all that, then she gets a toy (I’ve redirected to the point that she does that!) and then when the person actually gets to the door, she lies down and rolls over, because belly rubs. (I’ve worked really hard on this!)
BUT! Sometimes she’ll jump up after and try to I don’t know what to my FIL or me or whomever, and sometimes it’s scratchy ow! I hate that.

September 20, 2016 at 7:56pmoUCH! My dog is not very well trained either but luckily she’s tiny so the amount of damage she can do is minimal. If we had fur the way they do, we wouldn’t even feel it. -sigh- The downside of being the naked ape. 🙁

September 21, 2016 at 8:16amI hope your dog is learning as well as my friend’s dog is. The first time I went in, I practically needed a whip and chair. This time, she wouldn’t have tagged me, but I dropped my concentration before she had completely calmed down. She’s a good dog, she just, as you say, forgets we aren’t protected by fur armor. 🙂

December 21, 2017 at 5:09pmA big dog full of enthusiasm can be rather painful, just like a playful kitten with little razor-like claws! Sometimes…love hurts.?
