Blue Stockings Hack Tiny House in Hometown #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsI’ve been reading Regency Romances on and off for years, and I knew what a bluestocking was, but I didn’t know why. Now, thanks to Buried Under Books, I know why bluestockings are bluestockings.

If you don’t drop by Lifehacker now and then, why don’t you? They carry SO many helpful and amusing articles, like this short bit of life wisdom, called You Don’t Need the Best Version of Everything. Unless, the writer stipulates, you’re Frank Sinatra. And not even Sinatra is Sinatra anymore, so….

Here is the most beautiful tiny house in the world. IN. THE. WORLD. If you know of a more beautiful one, please leave a link in the comments, because Ark by Zyl Vardos blows me away. It’s both a tiny house and a storybook style house, and it’s utterly beautiful. I want to live both in this and outside of this, on each side of it and above it, so I can simultaneously enjoy it from every angle.

I just heard about this fairly new site, Hometown Reads, where you can find books by or register your book to be found by people in your same town or area. Once there are ten authors signed up from a particular town, the town gets its own page, and the authors can connect for shared marketing purposes. Right now, each author can only post one book, and that’s free. If it looks like it’ll be cost effective, the site owners will offer a Premium membership (price to be announced if it comes to that), with multiple listings. Seems worth a try! Oh, wait, there are actually two connected sites: Hometown Reads and Hometown Authors. Imma sign up both places.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character meets someone from or in their hometown with whom they have an unexpected thing in common.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
