A Word of Caution #FoundPoem

We haven’t heard from our weekly paper’s call-in patrons in a while. Here’s a word to the wise.

A Word of Caution

by Anonymous Caller

cautionThis is a word of caution
to people…
It is getting cold.
Fair warning,
rats do chew
through wires.
They will crawl somewhere
to stay warm.
They’ll chew automobile wires,
anything.
It’s true.
Keep an eye on
your surroundings.
There are rats there.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly consider myself cautioned.

I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies about flash-grilled salmon.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about rats.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Since I’m sure the poem wasn’t found, I’m hoping the interior of your car’s hood didn’t present such findings…

Indeed, indeed the poem WAS found! It was an actual call to our weekly paper’s Live Wire call-in column! I mean, it was just a call, and I broke it into poetical lines.

I had a Triumph Spitfire under a car cover in my yard for several years, and I never had a wire eaten. Of course the car was still plagued by electrical problems, cuz British, but no rats.
