Bad Boy and Birthdays #Caturday

Hi there! I’m Tipper Allen and guess what? I sneaked outside and got stuck there!

Last Sunday, Momma went to church and Poppa was bringing in wood. I won’t tell who missed it when I sneaked out, ’cause I don’t want to get them in trouble with each other, but I DID sneak out! Then, when Momma got back, they both went to a birthday party and they thought I was hiding inside and sleeping, like I do, and left me outside.

It wasn’t until they got back that evening that they got worried and looked for me and couldn’t find me. Then Poppa went all over the house and Momma went outside and called and called. I was hiding under the porch and I came right away. We were all so scared! I like to run outside, because there are birds and stuff out there, but I don’t want to stay there!

When I got back in, I slept

and slept

and slept.

Even though I was bad and ran out and got stuck and worried everybody, Momma gave me my big birthday present. She was sad, because it was a lot littler than she expected, but I like it.

It’s got two dangly jingly balls on it, and a box with holes in and a dingly ball inside it, and it’s WAY fun!

She also made me a toy sack! This is the best thing ever!

She took a paper sack and turned the rim down all the way around so it won’t fold up.

Then she puts it on the floor and puts all my toys in it, and I go in and pull them all out again and spread them all over the floor!

We could play that game all day!

Tipper…I’m sorry you got stuck outside, but it seems it actually might have been your own dumb fault. We had a cat like you once. He never learned. He kept trying to run out. He even learned how to turn the door knob! We had to keep the storm door locked. Don’t go down that road.

I love your toy sack. Enjoy that, and remember, nobody on the outside is going to make one of those for you.

You tell ‘im, Dan! He and I are both impressed with your cat who could turn a doorknob.

@Marian Allen – Oreo was a big boy. Part Maine Coon cat, and tall enough to easily reach the know without resorting to tippy-paws. He would grab it with both front paws and fiddle with it. I don’t think he understood what he was doing, but sometimes it clicked. He knew, at that point, he could start clawing at the bottom and it would open. Fortunately, it was a door to an enclosed breezeway, but he considered it “out” – we kept that door locked to keep him from getting out-out (which he still managed to do often enough.

My first cat, Tiffany, knew that the knob was how to open the door, but she couldn’t get a purchase on it. Doors with handles but no latches, she smacked until the laws of physics bounced them open. She was the one who would open the pantry and claw through aluminum foil to get at the cornbread.

He’s fascinated by the outdoors, but he doesn’t know what to do with himself there. Takes after his Momma.

I sure hope he stays indoors after that experience. Sleeping rough isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and no cat toys like that box are out there. πŸ™‚
