Lament For Sweet Muffins #FoundPoem

If you don’t get stuff like this in your newspaper, you need to subscribe to The Corydon Democrat, no matter where you live. This was in the Live Wire column, transcriptions from the paper’s call-in line.

Lament For Sweet Muffins
by Anonymous Caller

This past Sunday I got
no coupons in my paper.

I miss my last paper carrier;
he was so good.
This one is
another story.
I originally treated him
like I did the last one.
I couldn’t figure out why
my sweet muffins I left
were left for me
to throw away
because they sat for so long.

That is so sad! I mean, that is seriously a sad thing. My fellow writers, if that doesn’t tell you any number of possible stories, I don’t know what would.

GOD, I love this town!

I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies about salmon and pickles. Yes.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Outline one possible story based on that “poem”.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Hmmm, I’m curiously drawn to the idea that it’s a long-held belief throughout town that you poisoned to previous paperboy. You’re that lady 🙂

Oh wow. That is sad. Wasted muffins. Terrible.
I have never had a good/steady postal carrier or mail that came at a specific time of day. I’m always on the leftover route that rotates. If I did have a trusty carrier, I, too would leave muffins. No, scratch that. I would be armed with muffins, cause um, squirrels and birds 😉
