How Long Can You Plot Relief in a Fairy Tale Asylum? #FridayRecommends #amwriting

Friday RecommendsWelcome back to Friday Recommends, the day of the week on which I share some of my weekly finds and adorn them with a click-bait title made up of bits of their URLs.

ANYWAY, first up is of interest to writers, survivalists, and maniacs alike: Here’s How Long You Can Live Without Food, Water, or Sleep. The author gets bonus points for using the Oxford serial comma. Well done, you.

Debra Purdy Kong points out that she uses a different sort of story arc for her mysteries than she does for her fantasy. In the comments, she ‘splains to me how she uses an Excel spreadsheet to organize her arc. YWriter5 or Scrivener would do that, too, but the spreadsheet might be easier to do and to look at. Might try it sometime, because I am all about the spreadsheets. Thanks, Debra!

Janet Sheridan posts twice a month on life, aging, and humor that doesn’t require malice to appreciate. Her blog is named for her Aunt Beulah, who taught her about things like Comic Relief before compulsory education could present it in desiccated, chalk-powdered form.

If you haven’t been reading The Fairy Tale Asylum this past May, whyever not? Marta Pelrine-Bacon is an astounding writer and an enchanting artist. She can do more in a paragraph or a sketch than most of us dream of doing in a novel. Go look!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about one of your aunts.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Janet (Aunt Beulah) is one of my very favorite bloggers. Thanks for giving her some props (I hope I’m using that word correctly)
