So And So #FoundPoem

Another entry for the Department of We Both Know What You Meant, But I’m Going To Pretend I Don’t.

The call-in column from our town’s weekly newspaper offers an ever-fresh source of irritation and amusement. Sometimes, a caller leaves a thank-you to someone who did something nice. This is not one of those calls.

So And So

by Anonymous Caller

This is to
the little red-headed so and so
that cut through Jay C parking lot,
not watching where she’s going.
I was coming up
and paying attention
or otherwise
I would have
hit her front fender.

To which my first response was — say it with me, now — “Keep your hands to yourself, buster.”

I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies about a late summer farmers market meal.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character pretends they’re being flirted with when they’re really being scolded.

p.s. Happy birthday to me!

Little redhead so and so should be more careful as people look bad on fenders. 🙁

Keeping kosher — no meat and dairy together, ever, not when cooked, not when raw, not cooked in the same pans, or with the same utensils, or served on the same dishes, sometimes, often, in an orthodox home, there are two ovens and two refrigerators as well, so that the meat and dairy do not contaminate one another. Hours must pass between the eating of one before eating the other.
When people keep kosher they only eat at kosher homes and restaurants.

    First and foremost, Happy birthday!!!!
Now, I am not sure if the redhead or the poet were the risky ones. (I have no idea of the size fo the Jay C parking lot.) But just because you are entering doth not mean the one leaving is at fault. If one were travelling along the road of the egress, they would have the right of way. Otherwise….

Thank you for the birthday wishes, Roy! The Jay C parking lot is of moderate size, but there’s a beauty shop and a filling station on outposts of the lot, so there’s quite a bit of to-ing and fro-ing that goes on. Hard to tell who has the right-of-way sometimes.

Is this a question or a joke? ‘Cause if it’s a joke, Imma say, “I dunno, Dan. How CAN you tell if someone in a car is really little?”

Well, it wasn’t a joke, but I’m trying to think of a witty answer. I’ll get back to you if I ever come up with one.
