Ain’t No Surprise #FoundPoem

I’d like to point out again that I don’t make these things up.

Our town’s weekly newspaper has a call-in line called The Live Wire, where people can call and leave anonymous comments on anything that’s on their mind. Alvin from Palmyra always identifies himself, bless his heart, but almost everybody else just talks.

Like this political philosopher:

Ain’t No Surprise

by Anonymous Caller

They’re trying to make it look like a surprise
that the politicians are wasting
taxpayer money?
What do you mean surprise?
There ain’t no surprise.
They’ve been doing it
for years.
Don’t put it off
like it’s something new.
What’s the surprise?

~*~

I love this town.

I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies about a scrumptious soup that just happens to be vegan.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about a surprise. Or about something that is not a surprise.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I feel like ethics went out with the pay phones. When we see some, we’re like, “Look! Ethics! Hardly see those anymore. Look, Kids, ethics!”
