So we did Imaginarium again, as we do every year. Imaginarium, in case you missed my post last week, is a general-interest creative writing festival and a book/gift expo. The expo is open to the public, although the convention cos’es moneys, but not many moneys.
NATURALLY, I was on the lookout for doors.
Like the entrance to the convention and expo building.
Close-up of those lights for Joey.
Here’s the side door, the one you have to cross the parking lot from the hotel to. This is the door Walter Koenig (yes, Chekov from Star Trek!) held, at a past convention, for my #4 Daughter, the amazing Sara Marian.
And this is the door in front of which they discussed Russian literature.
But that was a different convention.
Here are some more doors from this event.
These nifty doors that look to narrow to get anything through, but are MAGIC!
This beauty.
And this! Where could this fabulous door lead? Does it lead to paradise? Does it lead to a garden of earthly delights?
No.
I wanted to tell you about how horrible the hotel was (the staff was terrific!), but I don’t feel like being negative today, and it isn’t the staff’s fault that the various owners have chosen to let the facility decline. And it isn’t the convention-runner’s fault that he was shown around the bits that had been renovated and led to believe the rest of the hotel was up to that standard.
We’ll definitely be back to the convention, because it’s the best event evar!!!! But we’ll stay in a different hotel. Since we have to cross the lot anyway, we might as well drive from another hotel and park.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about a door. Or a hotel. Or a hotel door.

October 12, 2017 at 4:30pmI’d rather hoped for a garden of earthly delights! Took myself there in my own imagination, I did. Anyway, I really like that door, and the magic bendy one 🙂

October 13, 2017 at 7:56amYeah, when I spotted that door, I was ready to ascend. Then #4 Daughter said, “Business offices. Accounting. Real Life.” I turned away with a shudder and with one warm tear of regret trembling on my lashes.

October 12, 2017 at 10:06pmHi Marian! I liked the doors but the courtyard and the imaginary garden were ones that I liked even more. I post a variety of Thursday Doors, last week doors on emergency vehicles at our monthly First Friday event.
This was a very fascinating post with Sarah Marian being blessed with a visit and talk with Walter Koenig, about Russian books and authors.
Happy doors viewing and will try to stay in touch. Smiles, Robin

October 13, 2017 at 8:02amHi, Robin! Sara has good memories of that courtyard: I took her to her first science fiction convention at that hotel when she was about 11. When we were passing through that courtyard, we found a group of sf writers I knew from previous conventions. An older one introduced himself by saying, “Hi, I’m Jules Verne.” She laughed and laughed. He was delighted because, as he proved several times over the next few minutes by introducing himself to other people the same way, she was one of the few people under 30 who realized he WASN’T Jules Verne! That was also where she told a different professional writer some details about the book she was writing, and he looked at another writer and said, “Let’s kill her now.” lol!
