Back to Bullitt County Library #ThursdayDoors

Per Bastet Publications and I returned to the Ridgway Memorial branch of the Bullitt County Public Library for their annual Author Fair. Great place, great folks, gorgeous library, all-around good day.

I got tickled (I’m easily tickled) by all the swag with BCPL on it, since one of the Per Bastet partners, T. Lee Harris, writes (among other things) books and stories about a vampire named BC Peale.

ANYWAY, we got there, and what’s the first thing we saw, across the parking lot from the library? A train for Dan!

And here’s the library, named for former county clerk Lindsay Ridgway, said to be “the most popular man in Bullitt County,” whose family donated the land for the library in his memory.

There IS a door in there, somewhere.

And lights for Joey.

From inside the library, I got a good shot of the front door of the Nina Mooney Courthouse Annex. Ms. Mooney was another county clerk, one who worked tirelessly to get the much-needed annex constructed. When she retired, they named it after her.

Lunch was provided, courtesy of Fazzoli’s (pizza, pasta, breadsticks, salad). Unfortunately, T is gluten-intolerant, which meant she couldn’t eat anything but salad. So I went out to a nearby El Nopal and got carnitas to go. Yes, for me, too.

Windows count. Yes, they do!

Okay, okay, here are doors. Happy?

Back at the library, we continued to sell books and bookmarks until time to phone home go home. This is actually the card catalog, although I kept checking for Captain Kirk.

Not your grandpa’s card catalog. Unless your grandpa is from the future.

Oh, see that glass case on the counter to the right? That contained Madagascar hissing cockroaches the size of Cleveland. In the Children’s section, of course. They love them!

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY POST: Write about someone in a “lowly” job who is honored for good work.

I like that card catalog. You collected some nice doors and, of course I love that there was a train, cuz, you know, trains! I am assuming that the Restroom doors are doors to other doors and not that there’s a window on the restroom door.

Trains for Dan, lights for Joey, and doors for Norm – this post has all of the bases covered 😉
