Success Generating Life and Aid #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsI don’t do blog chain posts, but Imma do this one. Tammy Breitweiser of Tammy’s Reading/Writing Life tagged me.

Here is how it works:

The rules of the tag are very simple:

• Thank the Selector

• Post 2 quotes for the dedicated Topic of the Day.

• Select 3 bloggers to take part in ‘3.2.1 Quote Me!’

The topic set for me and my tagees is ‘Success’.

So my topic is “Success,” and that’s the topic for the folks I’m a-taggin’. There are a blue-eventy-million that I could have tagged who would have done this beautifully, but here are three.

Dreaming Reality

Last week, Mitch Allen (no known relation) recommended Seventh Sanctum’s Character Generator. I went there, but I wasn’t braining much at all that day, so I can’t tell you how it works. It generates characters, though. Here’s a success quote from a book filled with wonderful characters. Applicable to Real Life, and how.

Charlie and I have been watching an outline of National Socialism and Hitler’s rise to power, in order to understand the appeal of it otherwise kind and sensitive people. There was a great deal of idealism at the base of it, but the baseless racial superiority and the ruthless cruelty that were also a part of it should have revolted — and did revolt and does revolt — people who embraced it at first.

What about those people? What hope is there for people who are caught in that network and want out? Well, there’s Life After Hate. They help radicalized individuals “disengage”, and they counter hate speech and activities with healing and compassion. One life at a time; one tweet at a time.

The border thing. The children. The let’s-just-go-ahead-and-call-them-cages. The Debtor’s-Prison-family-incarceration thing. RAICES. That stands for Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services. It’s in Texas, and it’s helping. You can donate, and/or you can spread their message of advocacy and solid hope.

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY POST: What is your main character’s definition of success?

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I cannot even with the politics. I cannot even. I do, quietly, in my own home, but not with people who don’t live here. I can’t even. I get all red rage.
    These are great quotes.

I like the quotes. Thanks for thinking of me, I think. I’m not good with things that have rules. But, I appreciate your support, so I will give it a go – probably on Sunday or maybe Tuesday.

You don’t have to, if you don’t want to. You and Cheryl-at-the-bar and your buddy and your dad and your former mentor have all had good things to say about success, so you seemed a natural for the challenge. 🙂
