Going places can be stressful to little ones, as anybody who has traveled with a little one can attest. Even going somewhere the wee one wants to be can be stressful–to the wee one and to everybody within earshot and kicking-the-back-of-the-seat-shot.
Recently, someone of my acquaintance went on a long car trip with a four-year-old. He loved their destination, once he got used to being in a new place. He relaxed, had fun, but got homesick. His mother sought to comfort him by telling him they were going home the next day.
He was stricken.
I don’t want to go through it all again!!
Neither did anyone else, but they love him and leaving him behind was not an option.

July 11, 2018 at 8:11amI still remember the long car rides to vacation destinations in the days before the Interstate highways. Hours and hours through one little town after another. We almost always managed to have fun in the car, but…

July 11, 2018 at 9:27amI get carsick, so going much of anywhere was a little slice of hell for all involved. I can tolerate it riding shotgun, which was never an option for a child. Okay, if I drive. I hate driving, but it’s better than the alternative. Yeah, I stay home a lot. 😀

July 11, 2018 at 9:04amHe-he! Imagine the thousands of harried parents who, at the time, feel quite justified in granting the wicked wee one’s wish.
I love these one-liner prompts. Do you get the one-liner AND a scenario, or do you just get the prompt?
Cheers,
Mitch

July 11, 2018 at 9:29amWe don’t get anything but the badge, Mitch. The scenarios and one-liners come from Real Life. An actual child actually said that in response to that situation. 🙂

July 11, 2018 at 4:10pmLOL! I can relate! Cute one liner and story today Marian!
I bought our two their own walkman’s member those? They had little cassette cases and backpacks full of books that went with the tapes, their music, and little battery operated hand games. One was Yahtzee which still works. I still play it, and one was Sorry. I think that one broke.
That kept them busy for a little while at least. We were always grateful when they fell asleep and woke up near or at the destination!
Today car’s have optional built in DVD players! Of course that will only entertain a kid so long. ?

July 11, 2018 at 5:55pmMarian, I had the same issue with car sickness as a child. It reared its ugly head in the back seat of the family car on at least one occasion. I finally figured out that I had to sit still and do nothing and I would be fine.
