Now, maybe you love the convenience of one-stop shopping at Amazon. No judgment. But my husband foams at the mouth, if I buy anything from them. So I was delighted to be recommended this page of Amazon Alternatives. I was even more delighted that among them is your public library. Well, not yours, specifically, but the generic “your”.
At InConjunction this year, one of my fellow panelists recommended self-published authors to get covers at the aptly named SelfPubBookCovers. Even if you aren’t in the market for a book cover, browsing their samples is a trip treat. (Sorry. My ill-spent youth popped up out of nowhere. I’ll be down in a minute.)
I recently had a comment on my Recipals page from Amna at KooKingK, so I followed her home and enjoyed her site very much. It’s recipes from India and Pakistan. It’s everything from stuffed eggplant to home-made Egg McMuffins! Many videos. Much like.
Now, hang onto your hats. If you haven’t got a hat, get a handkerchief, a scarf, a sheet of scrap paper, or a cabbage leaf, cover your head with it, and hang onto it. Meeka sent me to this site, and I’m sending you because WOAH! Suzanne Jongmans makes photographs that look like Renaissance portraits, dressing her people in discarded packing material and other “trash”. Click on the portrait on the landing page to enter a world of wonder. I am not kidding.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Pick a book cover at SelfPubBookCovers and sketch out a story based on it. Bonus points, if the story twists the narrative the cover suggests.

July 19, 2019 at 5:45pmThe first ‘literary fiction’ cover was a bare-chested man… as were several others on that first page.
If they let their artists choose the categories, it will be like Wattpad, where people who think their proper category is too crowded (vampire and werewolf genre fiction, and fantasy) put their fiction in the only category I can use because… well, because they can.
Happens in EVERY not-policed or self-monitored site I’ve ever seen.
But I did go look. I usually follow your suggestions. I also saved the link: I know what I want for NETHERWORLD, and I was looking forward to creating it, but… if I’m pressed for time, to get it published in a particular year, I would go with a good site for a custom cover, as I have licenses for the fonts and they can be used FOR me.
Every one of Jongmans’ would make a fabulous cover, and her models are gorgeous (which helps the trash look so lovely). You could give a tongue-in-cheek twist with such a cover.

Jongman’s models are breathtaking. And their faces look so RENAISSANCE! I could look at those pictures all day. One of them WOULD make a fabulous cover–I never thought of that!
