The Sadness of the Truffles #Food

We went to this thing and we had these things. Sounds like how I talk in French, except that everything I say in French is in the simple present. We go to this thing one day and we eat these things. They are very good. We eat the things much. My God! Holy Blue!

ANYWAY, I asked the chef what they were, and he said they were white chocolate rosewater truffles.

OMG, whaddya think: I actually have a bottle of rosewater I bought decades ago, with the intention of making rosewater Turkish Delight but never did!

So I found a recipe for white chocolate truffles on my beloved The Spruce Eats and I made it.

Easy, yes. Successful, yes and no.

Everybody said they were even better than the professional ones. They were a bugger to work with, though, and very sloppy. I made them save the least sloppy one for last so I could take a picture.

Doesn’t look like the pictures on the web, does it? Alas, no, I tell you, it does not.

Well, I had used Smart Balance vegan margarine with olive oil in place of butter because I forgot to buy butter. I thought maybe that was the problem. So I bought butter and made them again. Just as sloppy, and Charlie and I thought they were better with the margarine.

I looked at some other recipes online, and I think, when I make these again, I’ll use the margarine and I’ll cut back on the cream or leave it out entirely. I’ll also use less margarine. And I’ll scoop and chill them first and then roll them.

Messy or not, they were belicious!

I’m posting at Fatal Foodies today about another thing we we had at the thing.

I fell into your English and swam in simple French and I LMAO at Holy Blue! πŸ˜€ Thank you so much for that! πŸ˜€
I like the watermelon salad at the other page, too, except, you know how I do, it’s like brussels sprouts, I just think, well this is nice, but I would rather eat eight pounds of the plain ol-the way God made-it item πŸ˜‰ The other one I like almost as much as eight pounds of fresh watermelon is with feta and mint.

That watermelon salad reminded me of with feta and mint, only basil. Similar, actually. A good watermelon is hard to beat, but a mediocre watermelon, although better than no watermelon at all, becomes a star in this salad. Sara said it makes the best lunch EVAR when you’re digging holes in the blazing sun, because it has some protein and lots of juice.

I just had a pre-bed snack (to get me to sleep) of cottage cheese and cantaloupe. And then, for some reason, I had to read about white chocolate truffles. I’m trying to cut the carbs! Did you try them with butter and Splenda and cream? That I’d love.

No Splenda, because no sugar except what’s in the chocolate. I did make them with butter and cream. The vegan margarine won the taste test, though. Charlie said the margarine tasted richer!
