Being Personal

I’m posting on my personal blog today, about country life and small-town life.

MA

writing prompt: Write about five people your main character doesn’t want to know because they come from a different environment (he/she is city-bred and they’re country- or small-town-bred or some other variation on that theme). How do they fit the stereotypes he/she has of them? How are they different? Does he/she come to see any value in them? Don’t make it all salt-of-the-earth or all destined-for-the-special-hell.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

“Don’t make it all salt-of-the-earth or all destined-for-the-special-hell.” Isn’t that the key to all good writing?

I sure think so! Every so often, an angel or a devil can be a nice change of pace, but most characters are much more interesting and enjoyable when you mix it up a little.

Wheeee! This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, now–I was hoping the Blog Book Tour class would give me some focus on what to do and how to do it. Thanks, Dani!
