Guest Post: Bud Blossom

M: My guest today is Bud Blossom. He–

B: I have a mouth.

M: Yeah, and a nose, and–

B: Excuse me, who’s the guest here? How about a little courtesy?

M: Well, I like that! Who interrupted who?

B: Who interrupted whom. And English isn’t even my first language.

[I am silent.]

B: Not speaking? What if I did that?

M: I wish.

B: Be a pretty lame guest post.

M: Courtesy forbids my pointing it out, but–

B: Stop wasting time, then, and let me talk.

M: Talk.

B: Okay. I flew over from China around the middle of the 20th Century and eventually opened a restaurant–The Golden Lotus–on Cherokee Creek. It’s more of a reservoir now, wide and deep. I love that.

The Golden Lotus is on my houseboat, with some more tables out on the quay under a canopy. Best restaurant in town, and I don’t just say so, myself.

I don’t just serve Chinese food. We do exotic stuff, too, like fried catfish, bean soup, hamburgers–

M: That’s not exotic!

B: Depends on where you’re from, doesn’t it, Miss Know-It-All?

M: That’s all I can stand for one day. Let’s continue this tomorrow.

B: Drop by the restaurant. Special today for readers of this blog: Order anything off the regular menu. If you mention this interview and pay your bill, I won’t call the cops.

M: …Gee, thanks.

Bud and others appear in the story collection, THE KING OF CHEROKEE CREEK. Click here to read excerpts of the stories and for links to the collection at Amazon and Smashwords.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

*snicker* Funny to read, but I’ll bet he’s a real jerk “in person”! 😉 Great job of personality building.

A fun interview, Marian! Good point, Bud. Exotic depends on where you’re from.

Glad you enjoyed it! Bud is always trying to muscle in on other people’s stories. When I decided to give one of my characters a FaceBook page, I was sure Bud would want to be the one, but he said he didn’t have time for that crap. I think he just didn’t like the idea of being accessible to people.
