My short story, “The Prophecy” or “The Edge of the End” or whatever we decided to entitle it, is up at Dark Valentine ezine. Please read it, and I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
WRITING PROMPT: Have two characters discuss what to name something–a song, a story, a pet, a baby, a product.

October 11, 2010 at 9:25amMarian, I love your writing prompts at the end of your posts. Food for thought and one of these may find itself headed for somebody’s novel!

October 11, 2010 at 3:11pmGlad you enjoy the prompts, Karen. As writers know, EVERYTHING is about writing, so anything that happens inspires a writing prompt. I had to take my mother to the ER last night; she was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. It was 8:30pm when we walked in and 3:00am when I walked out. This morning, she said she had been worried about my walking out into the parking lot in the middle of the night. I said, “Nobody was there. No–I tell a lie: there was an EMT going to his car at the same time.” I said, “Naturally, I thought of at least five plots between the hospital and the car.” She said, “I can, too!” And she isn’t even a writer! She ought to be, though–she’s very creative and very funny. 🙂

October 12, 2010 at 6:37amI want to write my next story about an industrial designer. And he will talk with his assistant a lot about how to develop a new product.

October 13, 2010 at 12:20pmI would totally eat that up with a spoon–I read MOBY DICK cover to cover twice…on purpose! But most people don’t like it when somebody talks to somebody else a lot about something in fiction. Most people would advise you to work the information into the action and meaningful dialog. Just sayin’. What does your MC design?
