Food Day — The Perfect Meal

The Perfect Meal
by Marian Allen

Upon a sunny day, enjoy a sandwich.
But, if it’s foggy, gloomy, cold, and wet,
Or pouring down with rain, or even snowing,
A big, fat baked potato’s your best bet.

You might like steak, or maybe you like pasta.
I won’t deny, they each can be a treat.
But, if must be filling, good, and simple,
A big, fat baked potato can’t be beat.

With butter, cheese, sour cream, and crumbled bacon
(Or broccoli and yoghurt, to eat light),
Pull up a chair and sit down at the table.
A big, fat baked potato does you right.

Guess what we had for dinner? With low-fat vegan margarine and a sprinkle of mixed Italian cheeses, salt, and pepper. And it was very, very good.
