Halloween Food Without The Gross

Everybody’s posting recipes for eyeball deviled eggs and punch with all squiggly bugs in and so forth. I’m like: YUCK!

So here’s a recipe for a dish that not only tastes good, it looks like it tastes good.

PUMPKIN DUMP CAKE

  • 1 15-ounce can pumpkin — not pumpkin pie mix, just pumpkin
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 9-ounce box yellow cake mix (like Jiffy, for instance)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup melted margarine

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix first six ingredients until well blended. Pour batter into a greased square pan. Sprinkle cake mix on top. Cover with pecans. Pour melted margarine over top. Bake about 45 minutes to an hour.

Can be doubled and baked in a rectangular pan.

Now, isn’t that nicer than wormy dirt and stuff?
