Long ago, I wrote this limerick. If you’re familiar with Star Trek, you know who Spock is. If you’re familiar with Star Trek fan fiction, you know about the girls, and may sympathize with the last line.
At any rate, here’s a little limerick I wrote myself, and it goes something like this:
There once was a Vulcan named Spock
Whom girls all attempted to shock.
“Show emotion!” they cried
Till it welled up inside
And he beat out their brains with a rock.
Feel free to quote me; just give me credit.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Have a character (yours or someone else’s) do something WAY out of character. Also make it believable. Ah, you didn’t think I was going to make it EASY, did you?

First, she won a limerick contest with it which was sponsored by the Gila Queen (If I remember this correctly).
Second, in the Old Days of Trekkie-dom, this limemick REALLY got around, to the point that I received mail with it scrawled, graffitti-like, on the envelope. It was unattributed, because by then, not everyone was entirely sure WHO had written it.
But it was Marian!
