Here is the knitting project I’ve been working on. It was supposed to take 4 skeins of yarn, and this is nearly three. It’s already longer than the pattern called for because I used bigger needles. Because I’m like that, that’s why. So I stopped knitting it and cast off.
The subject now under discussion is: fringe or no fringe? The pattern calls for fringe along the short edges. I don’t like fringe. Mom likes it. In fact, she suggests fringe along both short edges and one long edge. I have enough leftover yarn to do that. So: fringe or no fringe?

November 5, 2013 at 9:19amI’m a knitter too. And I never know if I want fringe on my throws. It adds weight so they stay in place over one’s lap or feet. But when I pull it up to my chin to watch tv on really cold nights the fringe drives me nuts. Sometimes I solve the problem by making my throws a little wider and shorter and put the fringe on the long side. Still adds weight so they stay in place and doesn’t bother my nose or tickle my three chins. <;-} I don't know why I'm adding this comment. It's obviously too late for you to shorten or widen. <:-{

November 5, 2013 at 10:11amGood advice, Karen! This is a shawl, but it’s nearly big enough to be a throw. That sounds like a good project, and I’ll remember about putting the fringe on the long sides. Fringe drives me nuts, too, and for the same reason.

November 5, 2013 at 10:33amI love the colors! What about a different, but pleasing, color for the end fringes? The fringes could even be of a material that does NOT provoke revulsion!! Yeah!

November 5, 2013 at 12:37pmIt is finished when you decide it is. You could choose to make it 100 feet long if you wanted. It would be cumbersome, though!
