Gypsy Rose Lee. A to Z Day L

Gypsy Rose Lee was a child performer in the days of vaudeville. She moved from vaudeville to burlesque, where she became famous as a classy stripper; it was said she put the tease in striptease.

After the death of her mother — the Stage Mother of all Stage Mothers — Lee wrote her memoirs, which were the basis of the musical, GYPSY.

Here’s a cleaned-up version of the real Gypsy Rose Lee “stripping” in Stage Door Canteen:

It just goes to show that any experience or profession is material to you as a writer.

OK. Wearing a hat. Didnt’ see that one coming!

Last night on the MTV Movie awards, Grumpy Cat was in the front row wearing a Pharrell hat (scaled down to G.C. scale, of course) 😉

Katya IS a grumpy cat, but she doesn’t LOOK LIKE a grumpy cat. I told her she’ll never be an internet sensation like that, but she just said, “Good.”

I loved her: read her autobiography about 6 times, and saw the movie/musical starring Natalie Wood on TV over and over! jean 🙂

I had one song from the movie I learned and performed :”Gotta get a Gimmick”.
    I was 12.
