Seven Asylums In Paradise

I’m still recovering from my toothectomy, and it’s been a rocky week leading up to it, so I haven’t done much playing around on the ‘net. I do have some goodies for you, though.

ParadiseWhile I was waiting for my appointment to roll around, I picked up and read a book I had bought from the Friends of Harrison County Library book box, A TRIP TO THE BEACH, by Blanchard and Blanchard. It’s the story of how a couple from Vermont opened a beach-front restaurant on a tiny island in the Caribbean in 1994. When I finished, I looked up the restaurant — and it’s still there! Not only that, they have a little lower-priced beach shack adjunct that even I could afford! Now I just need to scrape up the money to get to the Caribbean…. Anyway, look up Blanchards and enjoy window shopping. You can buy an autographed copy of the book there, too.

I think I’ve recommended The Fairy Tale Asylum before, but it bears repeating. Go back to the beginning and read forward. Marta Pelrine-Bacon is astounding. If you don’t believe me, go read this article about her at Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast, which I also recommend.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about a tropical fairy.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Sounds really interesting. Going to read the book and I hope it would be a great week-end reading venture for me.

If you like books about people who are willing to hold onto their dreams while being flexible and learning from the people around them, rather than trying to make everything work the way THEY THINK things should work, you’ll love it!

Thank you for the mention. Also, I really the title, Seven Asylums in Paradise. I can’t decide if it is a good title for a novel (Dante inspired. Not the circles of hell but the asylums of paradise…hmmm) or a collection of short stories.
