Shows I’m Looking Forward To

The new TV season is coming up, and Mom and I are casting around to see if there are any new ones we want to add to our line-up. We already watch:

CASTLE — It started out as a writer doing ride-alongs with a police squad to research his books, tossing in crazy plot ideas that were ridiculous but sparked real cop insights. It turned into a grownup teen angst romance. Not sure what it’s going to be this season, but it keeps changing, so we’re interested to see what’s next. Plus: Nathan Fillion, right?

THE MENTALIST — Another victim of a tv show with a goofy premise letting reality get in the way, the writers decided it wasn’t realistic for cops to flout the rules all the time and made them FBI guys who, apparently, can get away with it. Also getting all “loves me loves me not”. Bleh. We like it less all the time, but are sticking with it so far.

NCIS. ‘Nuff said. Don’t care much for the new girl, but she may grow on me.

These are the new ones we plan to try:

MADAM SECRETARY — “MADAM SECRETARY stars Tèa Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, the shrewd, determined, newly appointed Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home.” I think it appeals to us because it looks kind of West Wing-ish. I actually don’t hold out much hope for it, since I just don’t find current events what you might call entertaining. We shall see.

SCORPION — “SCORPION, inspired by a true story, is a high-octane drama about eccentric genius Walter O’Brien and his team of brilliant misfits who comprise the last line of defense against complex, high-tech threats of the modern age.” I just eat this kinda stuff up. All us misfits want to believe we’re brilliant misfits who can save the day with our own particular misfittery. Worth a try, anyway.

I’m blogging at Fatal Foodies about a man in the kitchen dish. Food, I mean, not a dishy man.

The Mentalist is far fetched, but I found it curiously addictive. Kind of like Bones (for me).

I liked that craziness of it, too, Dan, which is why it irritated me that they had reality bust up the crew. Maybe the producers decided they needed to change the formula a bit to keep the storylines fresh or something.

I’m looking forward to CONSTANTINE. It’s based on a gritty comic in DC’s pantheon. Constantine spends his time going to hell, sitting in on Satan’s lounge musician stints, and gong up against weirdo antagonists. Don’t know how they intend to play the TV show, though.

NCIS: That darn new girl….GRRRR! Can’t she just go back to her pretend husband and let Abigail Boren (CGIS) take over???

Is CONSTANTINE going to be on network tv or cable? ‘Cause we no got cable. The music should be good. Martin Luther claimed the devil had all the best tunes.

My piece of paper here says Constantine is going to be on NBC beginning Oct 24. 😉
I saw another interesting prospect: FOREVER, with Ionn Gryffthh (sp).
He’s the guy who played Mr Fantastic in the FF movies. He’s Welsh, so I’m on my own re the spelling. No, I’ll not look it up.
OK, I looked it up. It’s on ABC, and it’s spelled Ioan Gruffudd.
        I think.
        Bye.
