GIFTS OF THE MAGI is now live! It’s an anthology, as I said yesterday, put out by the Speculative Fiction Guild to benefit the literacy program Indy Reads. Submission was by invitation only, so I am, as my British-speaking friends say, quite chuffed to have been included.
My story, “The Warmth of Midwinter” (excerpt posted yesterday) features Andrin, the Crown Waymaster from my fantasy trilogy, SAGE. I had puttered around and nearly completed a totally different story and THEN I read the guidelines. The story was supposed to revolve around a featured character from my series and was supposed to be feel-good. The story I was working on was not only about a completely new character, it took place in a completely other country than any of those in SAGE.
So I flailed like Kermit for a while, then I opened a new document. I emailed Sara Marian and asked, “Who should I write about?” She said, “ANDRIN!” So I did.
To learn more about the anthology and to see how to buy it (I know you want to buy it. Not you, Jane. Christmas is coming, you know.), follow this link.
