Munchkin Muses #Caturday

MunchyFaceSmHi. I’m Munchkin.

It’s a funny old world, isn’t it? A very nice man let me in from my life as a stray, inviting me into the household of seven other cats. Before he could realize I had lost most of my teeth and couldn’t eat much of the hard food he put out, he passed away.

That made me very sad on several levels: I thought coming in would be wonderful, but being one of many was almost like being alone. I thought I would have plenty of food, but I couldn’t eat it very well, so I might as well not have had it. I thought I had a forever home, but then our human died — we never thought that would ever happen!

But then something wonderful happened. Our human’s brother and sister-in-law KEPT US IN OUR HOME! They sent out private messages asking for leads on new people for us. And MA (that’s how she signs her emails and blog posts, and I think Ma is a nice name for her, even though Amidala calls her MaMA) volunteered to take Amidala and me because we’re the oldest. It’s amazing! Most people want kittens, but MA likes old cats!

I’ve already started putting on a little weight, since MA gives us gushy food, and Amidala has almost stopped growling at me when I try to get on MA’s lap.

When I think of how lucky I’ve been in my old age, I can hardly believe it. Just a few months ago, I was living on the street. Now, I can lie in front of a heat register or in a cat bed or on the covered couch or in Ma’s lap. (I really like Pop — Charlie, MA’s man — but he isn’t very snuggly, so I just sit and stare at him.) Now, I get gushy food to eat and lots of fresh water. I can have pets and ear-scritches any time I want them.

MA and Charlie don’t seem as happy as I thought they would be when I try to help myself to food off people’s plates at the table. I sure expected they’d like for me to be a little self-sufficient, but it seems to be important to them to serve me, so I may stop trying to save them the trouble.

Like I said, it’s a funny old world!

As your big sister, Munchkin, I can tell you that secretly I thought it was funny when you tried to steal my plate last week, but don’t tell Pop I said that! 😉

    Hi, Munchkin.
    Many happy nibbles, mon vieux!

My boy Blackjack turned out to have been old when I found him. And he lived another 10 years! I think the thing I wonder about most is what were his other names in his other lives. I made up for it by giving him plenty of his own with me.
