Quicky Quacky Cracker Snacky

Have you ever had buttered crackers? They are UNBELIEVABLY nice! I have named them Quicky Quacky Cracker Snacky because saltines with butter on doesn’t sound very jazzy.

Quicky Quacky Cracker Snacky

SnackyHere is my “butter”, which is actually Earth Balance buttery spread. And here are my crackers, which mascot Polly claims are crack-arrrs.

Simple, speedy, cheap, and oh-so-satisfying. Why? I couldn’t say. But it hits the spot every time.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write a scene with crackers in it.

    Enjoy, my friend!

Have you ever baked your own crackers?
I have a recipe, but have lacked the courage to try it.

I remember them well, from when I was a kid. I often had “sore guts” and that (crackers), and a little soup, was all I could tolerate….

    My mum had several versions:

    1. Cracker with a little butter.
    2. Cracker with a little margarine
    3. Cracker with a little peanut butter.
    4. Cracker with a little cheese whiz.

    5. #1 Cracker, with a little white or brown sugar mixed in.
    6. #2 Cracker, with a little white or brown sugar mixed in.
    7. #1 Cracker, with a little liquid or cream honey mixed in.
    8. #2 Cracker, with a little liquid or cream honey mixed in.

    9. Cracker with a little piece sliced of cheese on top.
    10. Cracker with a little bit of Velveeta cheese on top.
    11. Cracker with a little bit of pre-mashed banana on top.

You may have trouble getting #10. I have not seen Kraft Velveeta in the stores, in years.

Usually they were regular salted crackers. On occasion they were the “unsalted tops”. Every once in a while they were the “original” Ritz crackers.

I still eat them. Mum is long gone, but the crackers remain as a comfort food, with some good memories.

Be good. Eat your crackers. They are good for you.

Mmmmmmm…. Those all sound yummy, Pete!

All the Velveeta must have run away to my town: we always have plenty. I’ll gladly mail you some, if you want.
