Runaway Munchkin #Caturday

MunchyFaceSmHi, I’m Munchkin.

Yes, you read the title right: I ran away!

MunchEarWhy? Well, MA has hardly been home at all in the past month. In fact, she only started coming home to visit in the past few days, and then she only comes to RUB MEDICINE INSIDE MY EAR. She loves on us some, but not nearly enough.

So the other day, Pop left the door open for a long time. It was so sunny, and such a nice temperature, and you know I’m a vagabond by nature, so I just walked out and away.

I guess Pop called MA, because I could hear her calling the name I came to her with, the name the man who took me in off the street called me. I’m kind of tired of that name, and I never was all that attached to it, so I just stayed where I was, curled up in the cat bed on a front porch not far from MA and Pop’s.

Then here came MA. The house’s boy met her on the porch. Wouldn’t you know it: They know each other. In fact, then I remembered he’s been at our house before. He’s something called a “grandson”.

MA said, “My old man cat is gone!”

The boy said, “Is he yellow? Is he missing some fur on his neck? Is he in pretty bad shape?”

I resented that, but MA admitted that all that was the case. So I came out.

MA picked me up and hugged me. She carried me back to the house, and I growled all the way. I’m not a baby! I can walk! And maybe I didn’t want to go back to her house! Maybe I want to move on to another house! Maybe I don’t want a forever home, did she ever think of that?

Attempt to move on foiled!

Anyway, I’m back. Amidala says she missed me, but I noticed she didn’t come with me or after me.

Spring is about to begin, and the door will be open a lot. I’ll have other chances.

I suppose you remember when my boy Blackjack took his vacation.
    He was gone SIX WEEKS!
I took up jogging to enable a more throough search pattern!
Finally, a response to a Lost Cat sign I had just put up!
(There’s a miracle in there somehwere, eh?)
People called me and said a large black cat had just walked into their open garage door and started eating the cat food there.
Blackjack was lounging on their sofa with the resident Man when I came to get him. He looked up at me and said, “Huh. THERE you are.”
He insisted on sitting in my lap while I drove, and he purred all the way home!

Dear Munchie has been a very naughty boy!

I think they do it to test us. If we come and find them, it’s a fair go. If we fail, we lose them to the next guy.
