The Sadness of the Carrots #disappointment

So I decided to make glazed carrots. They tasted good but they looked ugly. In fact, these were the ugliest carrots ever.

Sad, Ugly Carrots

sadcarrotsWhat made them so darned UGLY? I didn’t think I put too much cornstarch in the glaze, but maybe I did. That, plus the fact that I was making do with canned carrots, and they kind of mushed up.

BUT THEY TASTED REALLY REALLY GOOD!!! That’s the important thing, right? RIGHT??

I squeezed an orange into the pan, added some vegan margarine, brown sugar and cinnamon, then the carrots. When all was hot, I mixed some cornstarch into cold water and stirred it in.

Maybe it was too much cornstarch, or maybe I cooked it too long. Whatever, those poor sad carrots were not attractive. Still, as my grandfather used to say, “It don’t hurt the eatin’ of it.”

They could look WORSE. I’m not a huge fan of cooked carrots, and although I appreciate good presentation, I am a fan of things that taste good, regardless of their looks.

Oh, Holly, they were SO good! Fresh ones would have been better, but I had to make do with what I had. I’m going to remember the cinnamon the next time I made glazed REAL carrots. 🙂
