Greetings from the planet Llannonn. I am Councilor Bella Yozgat, head of the Llannonn for the Llannonninn movement. I do apologize if I seem discourteous in introducing myself thus, but off-worlders have not been an unmixed blessing to Llannonn.
One thing I do like about Earth is its cuisine. I should put that in the plural, as I’m told Earth has many cuisines. I don’t dispute it, as I’ve never made a study of Earth nor, if you’ll forgive me for saying so, do I ever intend to.
Here is a light dish the Grand Council were served when we visited the Council City Meadow of Flowers Living Library of Earthly Classics or whatever it’s called.
Assistant Head Librarian Holly Jahangiri said the green bits are called lettuce and the round bits are called oranges. She said the oranges are usually served raw, but that Parlourmaid Tambar Miznalia peeled these, sprinkled them with sugar, and broiled them. She poured a cold sauce she called dressing on the whole thing. It was quite nice.
I voted YES to renew the library’s funding.

Councilor Bella Yozgat appears in FORCE OF HABIT, my out-of-print comedy science fiction police procedural. Tambar Miznalia and Holly Jahangiri (although Holly is also a Real Person) appear in various stories I hope to collect into a … well … collection. Look for Holly here on Sundays of Story A Day May, when I’ve made it a tradition to write about her.
Please visit Ya Gotta Laugh About It as part of the April A-to-Z Challenge. You’ll thank me.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: When is the last time your main character went to the library?

April 29, 2015 at 12:21pmThat looks yummy! Glad he voted yes! Always a good thing to go to a library; usually the first thing after I get settled into a new place after we move is to go and get a library card.
