Toothy Tuesday Two

Poor li’l Munchkin! I have to drop him off at the vet this morning and leave him all day. It’s going to be one of the longest days of my life. He has to have some tests run to see if he’s up to the tooth extraction. If the tests show he isn’t up to it, I don’t know what, because he HAS to have what’s left of those teeth out!

Whatevs.
Whatevs.

He’s been so miserable this week. 🙁 He’s hardly eaten anything, which means he hasn’t had his full dose of hyperthyroid medicine, which means he’s getting skinnier and skinnier. I’m going to get a “pill shooter” tomorrow.

Maybe.

See, they’ve already told me that nobody knows how a cat — especially an elderly cat — will respond to anesthesia. That’s why tomorrow will be so long. I hope.

Okay, I knew the cats were old when I adopted them. Okay, they were in fairly bad shape, especially Munchkin, who was the New Guy and at the bottom of the pecking order. Okay, the whole idea was that I was going to give them a happy home for the little time they had left, and I’ve certainly done that.

But it’s never enough, is it? Those little paddy-paws creep into your lap, and the ears flick and the eyes blink. The rusty, squeaky purr starts up and your heart melts. Mine does, anyway.

So I hope you’ll keep me company today as I wait for the news. I’ll update the post when I get the results.

Oh, it’s Tuesday, so I’m posting at Fatal Foodies, today about Manus Christi. I needs me some.

UPDATE

HE MADE IT! Munchkin is home and resting up from the ordeal. It turns out he had SIX teeth, including the four teeny ones in front. Now he has four, having had one of his canines (ha ha a cat has canines) extracted. YAYYYYYYYYY!!!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character becomes much more attached to someone or something than is reasonable.

Good luck Munchkin! We know how hard it is to leave them at times like this. I hope this works out well Marian.

Thanks, Dan. He came through it okay! Still pretty wobbly, a bit loose in the bowels, but alive and kickin’!

    Fingers crossed!

You know, vet anesthetics are much better than what they used to employ. When anything indicates a problem, the anesthetic is stopped, resulting in almost immediate awakening. So that is a plus.

My boy Blackjack adopted me, it turned out he was pretty old, too. He stayed with me for almost ten years, so….

I already love your kits, too, Marian. Thinking of you all day!

Thanks, Jane! I really didn’t think I’d see my boy alive again. Amidala is like, “Oh, you break out the GOOD food when HE gets back, eh? Well, let’s see if I can’t eat all of mine and all of his before Mr. Wobble-pants can recover, shall we?”

Thank you, Elvira and Sneakers! Munchy is home and getting his strength back! While they had him under sedation for the tooth extraction, they snuck and fed him — hee hee!
