The Best Kind of Needling #Caturday

the queenAmidala speaking.

MaMA has given up joining Athena and Marie’s Caturday Art Blog Hop, but she likes the idea, so she asked me if I wanted to be “artified,” as she put it.

Naturally, I said yes.

She decided to use the GIMP’s Artistic filters to make it look as if she had embroidered a picture of me, a task she tells me would have taken her a minimum of twenty years to do In Real Life.AmiBroideredI like it!

In other news, Munchkin still isn’t coming upstairs for cuddles, but he’s gone back to greeting MaMA when she comes into the basement. It helps that she’s only giving him two doses of medicine now instead of four. Honestly, he’s so shallow! It’s a good thing the medicine is oral and not by injection!

Oh, MaMA is at Fandom Fest in Louisville, Kentucky today and tomorrow. She’s on a couple of panels, and she plans to wander around advertising books, so you might find her there.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I have access to Adobe Photoshop at work, but I use GIMP at home. I am staring to get the hang of it, but I haven’t explored filters.

I can use some but nothing fancy. I’m too damn old for a long learning curve.

    Photoshop is really something.
Something I can’t say in polite company.
Let me just say that the learning curve is off the chart!

However, Gimp is NOT a rasterising program.
Oh you can size and stretch etc., any trufont OR some other imported file.
BUT you cannot draw straight into it without immediately losing pixels. No smooth lines or edges. Then try to copy or size that baby!
Crappy looking! is a generous description.
    Unuseable is another.

    So: Gimp — FREE!
AND easier to use than Photoshop.

Did I say it was FREE!

“However, Gimp is NOT a rasterising program.”

Ah, I did not know that! Photoshop is also free, if you have a friend who has an old copy that isn’t supported anymore.
